– The minor decline of 0.2% in turnover during the first quarter of the 2011/2012 business year (end January) was more than compensated for by the USA building supplies group, The Home Depot Inc. (Atlanta, Georgia), in the second quarter when an increase of 4.2% was recorded to US$20.232bn (May-July 2010: 19.41bn). Thus it was possible to conclude the first half year with a 2.2% increase to US$37.055bn (36.273bn).
The group is sticking to its turnover forecast of +2.5% for the entire business year. By contrast the results forecast was corrected upwards. Home Depot is now expecting a 16% increase in the result per share to US$2.34.
The operating result increased by 12% in the second quarter to US$2.294bn (2.049bn) and in the first half year by 10.8% to US$3.716bn (3.354bn). The net result also increased by 14.3% to US$1.363bn (1.192bn) in the period between May and July; in the first six months of the business year the net result was up by 13.5% to US$2.175bn (1.917bn).
